THE LAST GASP

Dan Slater and Norm Countryman are raising funds to bring to life a short film called 'The Last Gasp'.

The Last Gasp is classic Film Noir.

Set in 1950's Philadelphia, it follows the tribulations of Chester Patton, an easygoing salesman for a glass manufacturing company who makes one small mistake and watches his whole life tumble out of control. The trigger for this unpredictable downward spiral of events is a nice juicy steak, and if you know Film Noir, you'll know that happy endings are as rare as Chester's dinner. All the classic characters are present - the Voiceover, the Femme Fatale, the Gnarled Detective, the Best Friend's Wife, the Patsy, and especially Lady Luck (or Lady Bad Luck, as it turns out) - and woven together in an original short story that could have come straight from the fevered brains of the Coen Brothers, had they been born a generation earlier. As writer and director, Dan will conjure this thriller - a combination of whodunnit, revenge quest, and disaster move - from his own fevered brain and the $10,000*** budget, using his wits and cinephiliac knowhow to create a bona fide professional entry into the modern Film Noir canon. If you've seen the Til Death Do Us - trilogy, you'll know he has the vision and inventiveness to pull off an entertaining short. Now all he needs to expand into the big time is the budget, and that's where you come in.

Making a film costs money as we have to hire a studio, and pay for crew and cast.
